Luigi Zimmitti
Born in Siracusa,
he got his degree in clarinet under the guidance of
Vincenzo Di Pietro.
He has pursued his advanced
studies with Karl Leister, Richard Stoltzman, Rome
Tudorache, Fabrizio Meloni, Vincenzo Mariozzi e Ciro
Scarponi, participating as well to specialization
courses for chamber music held by Chantal De Buchy and
Aldo Tramma. Has studied to become band master with Jo
Conyaerts (Holland) and Fulvio Creux, has deepened
musical propaedeutical studies with G. Piazza, A.
Conrado and C. Paduano. Directed (Guided) by prestigious
conductors of orchestra with high international
reputation, since 1986 he co-operates as clarinettist
and saxophonist with the Autonomous Regional
Organization (l’Ente Autonomo Regionale) Teatro Vincenzo
Bellini of Catania and with the Lyrical Organization
“Impresa Lirica”, EUR of Pesaro. He also co-operates as
assistant to the courses held by M° Karl Leister. Guest
as soloist of groups playing wind instruments and
chamber music has participated to tours in Spain, USA,
Holland (Kerkrade) and in Czechoslovakia earning great
consensus from the participating audience and critics.
With reference to his last musical work Karl Leister has
stated: “This work (CD) distinguishes itself for the
exceptional pitching (formulation) of the program and
for its excellent technique for the beautiful sounds, in
addition to its special music”. As soloist and in groups
of chamber music has achieved 1st place among the
following national and international contests: A.M.A.
Calabria; “Il Clarinetto Italiano nel “900” Perugia;
“Premio Seiler” Palermo 2001; he has also been
finalist at the T.I.M. (1993-1994); at the Ibla Grand
Prix (Ragusa) and to the international contest of
Sanguinetto (Verona). Has played in duet with M° Bruno
Canino at the Sala Borromini at Rome. He played with
wind instrument groups in USA, from 1992 to 2005. He
carries out an intense activity in the Pop and Jazz
music playing master jazz with G. Gaslini, P. Fresu, F.
D’Andrea, B. Tommaso, Lee Konitz, A.M. Peterson, Lo
Cascio, E. Rava. His musical activity includes self
production works such as “Resumè”, “Musaik” and
“Concerto all’italiana”. With the Orchestra di Fiati
Accademia Euterpe has recorded for the house musik
Scomegna (Italy). In addition to the active of playing
in concert’s he has an intense didactic activity: he is
a clarinet teacher at the I° Istituto Comprensivo
“Marconi-Veneto” of Lentini; Istituto Musicale G.
Privitera of Siracusa and at the Scuola Comunale di
Musica “Emanuele Carta” di Melilli (SR). |
